Expertise

Bobbie Johannes's work focuses on addressing rural health disparities through primary care delivery and prevention. Her research examines how continuity of care and patient–clinician relationships influence screening, diagnosis, and management of conditions such as prediabetes, hypertension, and colorectal cancer, particularly in underserved rural populations. A central component of her work explores health‑related social needs and social determinants of health—including housing, transportation, and social support—and their effects on chronic disease outcomes and access to care. By leveraging electronic health record data, geospatial analyses, and mixed‑methods approaches, her goal is to inform evidence‑based interventions that strengthen primary care systems and reduce inequities in population health.
